Background and Aim: Ethnic-religious phenomena have been challenging for some countries, and the statesmen of these countries have, at times, faced various crises that threaten their unity and coherence. Today, extremist religious extremism is the source of violent armed conflicts in parts of the world that have led to erosion of the power of states and nations. In other words, ethnic nationalism in some countries has marked the national unity of society.The country of Iran because of the fact that its neighboring centers are not immune to this phenomenon, so that the northwest borders of the country can be the basis of these phenomena. Considering the importance of the issue, this research aims at the study of religious ethnic phenomena and its impact on the security of the northern borders West of Iran.
Method: The research method was descriptive-analytic and survey method. For collecting data, existing documents and a researcher-made questionnaire based on the Likert Five options were used. To determine the reliability of the questionnaire from the viewpoint of experts and elite with the knowledge of the field of study (formal validity technique ). To determine the reliability of questions in the pre-test phase, Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used.The statistical population consisted of security police officers and other security experts in the northwest of the country. For the purpose of calculating the sample size, 140 people were selected using systematic random sampling according to Morgan table. Using statistical methods and statistical tests, the t-test , Single sample, Friedman test and Pearson correlation coefficient. SPSS software was analyzed.
Findings and results: The results of the research indicate that the mean score obtained in the border security security variable is statistically significant. These findings suggest that the extent of the threat of extremist ethnic-religious phenomena on the security of the north-west regions of the country is above the medium and high.Also, in response to the issue of how to deal with the threats of extremist ethnic-religious phenomena on the security of the northwestern borders of the country, the results showed that there is a significant difference between the effects of threats of extreme ethnic-religious phenomena on the security of the northwestern border regions according to the rank average. . The ranking of threats of ethnic-religious extremism is as follows: 1. Social-cultural security; 2. Political security; 3. Economic security; 4. Military security.
