Background and Aim: Preserving and strengthening national unity of ethnic groups, including the concerns of countries in the contemporary world. Iran is among the countries that possesses great cultural and ethnic diversity and thus in this country strengthening the empathy and convergence of nations is a critical. Tourism is one of the capacities that can be used in this respect. The aim of this research is to study the effect of commercial tourism on empathy of Iranian ethnicities.
Method: This research, based on objective is applied and based on procedure a quasi-experiment using a pattern in two time. The statistical population includes all the tourists that have visited the border city of Baneh in 1394. Among them, 128 cases of non-Kurdish compatriots were selected who traveled to Baneh for first time. The data were collected with the help of valid and reliable questionnaire (Cronbach's alpha 0.81) and were analyzed using two sample t-test.
Results: The research showed that after a trip to this border town, empathy of compatriots towards the people of the city of Baneh increased with a significant level, 99 percent. So the development of commercial tourism capacities of Baneh and providing appropriate services to the people of this town and tourists, can have significant political consequences.
