Background and objective: the employees’ empowerment is one of the effective strategies for fast achieving of organization’s goals. The more important is the organization's mission and complex activities, the more the needs are for greater empowerment of staff. The Police organization and all of its subsidiaries, is one of the highly complex organizations that empowerment for all employees, particularly employees in the ranks, is essential because of the need to make decisions in the moment. One of the factors that influence employee empowerment is the leadership style of organization management and this study is going to investigate the relationship between the supportive leadership style and staffs empowerment in Nehbandan Border Regiment.
Method: in terms of its goal, this study is of an applied research type and in terms of the method, it is of a survey research type. The statistical population contains 40 commanders of Nehbandan Border Regiment in South Khorasan Province that all of them have been questioned. The data were collected via a researcher-made questionnaire. Its validity was confirmed by the experts and the reliability was endorsed by Cronbach alpha (.82). The obtained data were analyzed using SPSS software and Linear Regression test, t-test, and Friedman test.
Findings and results: the research findings confirmed the relationship between supportive leadership style dimensions and psychological empowerment in the desired population. The results showed that the three components of supportive leadership of 1) listening to the employees’ problems, 2) accolades and awards, and 3) dealing honestly with employees have the most level of effects on staffs’ psychological empowerment in Nehbandan Border Regiment, respectively.
