Background and objectives: when talking about successful organizations and managers, motivating the employees is one of the important issues that is dealt with. Motivations actually encourage employees to eagerly work in the organization. The more the mission of an organization is difficult and important, the more important is the motivation of the employees. The Islamic Republic of Iran’s border police force has the important mission of providing security in the borders and accomplishing this goal is only possible by the employees who have enough motivation to work. The present study examines the effective factors on job motivation of this Command and is going to prioritize these factors.
Methodology: in terms of the purpose, this study is of an applied research and in terms of data collection method it is a library and field study. The statistical population of the study consists of all the employees of Islamic Republic of Iran’s Border Command. 481 male participants were selected using the stratified random sampling based on the sample size formula and then they were questioned. The validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by the constructive validity (with loadings higher than .04) and its reliability was confirmed by Cronbach alpha (0.99). The data were analyzed using SPSS and LISREL software.
Results and findings: the results of the factor analysis indicated that the factors affecting the promotion of job motivation among Border Command in order of preference are social factors (52.3%), self-esteem (6.2%), the pleasant job characteristics (3.6%), self-actualization (2.1%) and physiological factors (1.6%), respectively. The findings also showed that the five obtained factors in all explain 66% of the total variance of the staffs’ motivation of Border Command.
